"Blurs" and the undetermined hiatus

Well folks, I guess we'll have to say our farewells to Arch of Aorta for quite a while.

Since that my artistic studies took a big part of my life by now, it's a little difficult for me to continue this project on the same path that it took from the beginning. I'm working most of the time on my poetry and french songs, and it's totally different than the usual stuff I used to do with this project. For now, I'll let it rest until new ideas spark from the darkness of its nature.

Meanwhile, I'm giving you the last two songs that I written for that project. As usual, I'm hoping that you'll enjoy them.

So long.

Arch of Aorta "Epiphanies"

It took me a little while to put it in here, since I only completed the entire album in June 2009. After 7 months, I finally decided to put in for download on my blogspot. Basically, this release is mainly somber, in a dark tone. You might notice that there's an apparent emotional decrescendo floating throughout the entire album. To my opinion. it makes the glue of this album, by uniting the lyrics and the music together, with the strength of sorrow (especially in "The Colors of a Swan" or "Cold"). Anyways, for your own pleasure, the newest release from my solo project is now available for download. Enjoy!

Videoclip for "The Rainbow Connection"

I was speaking with my old buddy Marco Arseno the other day, and he came up with a new project. Since he's a video producer/actor, he asked me if i wanted to create a video with him for one of my best songs. Frankly, I've been thinking about that idea for a long time, but I didn't had the equipment or the acknowledge that I needed to create this type of video clip. For the last weeks of the summer, I'm gonna work with Marco to finish this new project and post it on YouTube afterward, after its completion.

More infos will be posted during the upcoming weeks.

Upcoming project: Gran'Acadie

I've been silent about this project for the whole summer, since I didn't knew how the final result would sound like. Since it's a lot different than the other stuff I've been recording/producing, I've put it on hold for a few months, just to see if it was worth it. By now, Kurtis Ross and Jeremie Aubé are in this project too, and we've been working on some original songs that could fit well with this kind of band (since it's only Acadian folk music). If you're a fan of the acadian band 1755, Cayouche or any other acadian bands, this is for you. I hope you enjoy it.

About the upcoming album...

Hello, dear listeners.

So far, the progression of my new album is entering into a slower production; as I'm beginning my years of university, my creations will be focused mostly on visual arts. I'm trying to get through these big courses to finish my degree in visual arts. By now, the regular beat of my productions will not totally stop, but the full album will be scheduled to be released later this year, or the following year (depending of the time I'll have in hands). For now, I'll give you a glimpse of the songs that I've written and created at this moment:

*Cold
*The Artist's Life
*From The Foreplay to The Afterglow
*The Falling Skies
*Epiphanies
*Ascend The Stars

And some other covers that I've made, throughout the recording of those last songs.

So, that's all the news that I have. I'll talk to ya guys later.

News for the interested

This is Andy writing.

After 2 months of break, I'm slowly composing songs for the upcoming album "Epiphanies". This album will be a blend of two distinctive emotions, explaning the good and bad bits of our lives. I won't tell any longer about this album, except for this sneak peek of the front cover of the release.
Pure amateur GIMP editing.

I'll see ya'll later.

Arch of Aorta's "The Afterlife"

This one was held back for a couple of months. The main reason why it was still hiding in my closet is because of my comparison with "Lullabie EP". Right at the end of the recording of this album, I began to record a song called "Rayne For Azure" for the next album, which was "Lullabies EP". When we compare the songs from "Lullabies EP", to the whole set of "The Afterlife", you can fairly hear a major difference in the sound, the melody and the quality of the songs. Without any doubt, I knew that the upcoming album would be a lot more better than the previous one. I put "The Afterlife" album away, so I could concentrate more on the set for "Lullabies EP", which is to my opinion the best album I've made by now.

Anyways, I managed to make a full album with it. There was a lot more songs than the list showing under this paragraph, but these songs are the best ones I've took out from the whole set of  it.

Enjoy!

Tracklist
=======
1. Astray
2. Bedside Vigil
3. Beautifully Awful
4. Heaven's Ashes
5. Rise of The Animals
6. Those Eyes of Grey

=======
1. Death of Beauty
2. Seven Redundant Years
3. Rayne For Azure

"Skiðamaður Risa" now available

This is the result of my true musical obsession that I tend to show through my compositions. The lyrics of the songs are in icelandic language, and it was meant to be that way because I didn't wanted
to make you focus only on the lyrics. Music leads you to sense a feeling, or remind a joyful memory.
That's what I was trying to do with the songs of this album.

Tracklist
=======
1. Stundum (Sometimes)
2. Sirkill Og Bátsmaður (Compasses & Boats)
3. Öldur Ljósvakans Ást (Airwaves Love)
4. Svartur Ský (The Black Cloud)
5. Eins Og Lif Haegur Okkur Dúnn (As Life Slows Us Down)
6. Skiðamaður Yfir (Skies Above)
7. Hvitur Litur Blóð (White Blood)
8. Við Hjarta (By Heart)
9. Hljóð Af Þögn (Sound of Silence)

"Life of Death EP" now available for download

One of the latest release that I've made with my project Sober Angels. This EP only has 6 songs, and is approximately 20 minutes long. I think I've completed that album during the beginning of my last year of college, in 2007. The music was entirely programmed with Fruity Loops, a synthetizer that I used for the creation of this album.

Tracklist
======
1. Life of Death
2. God of Auschwitz
3. Lover's Bridge
4. Nuclear System
5. Summer Soma
6. Alcoholic Dreams

"Arise EP", now available

The first album of my project Sober Angels. The whole concept reflects a sensation similar to "Ten Notes On A Summer Day" from the late anarchist punk band, Crass. It's a sort of honor that I've made for them, regarding their latest release. The music is completely chaotic, and is not following a stable rythm. Exactly how "Ten Notes" sounded like.

Tracklist
=======
1. Arise pt.1 (Intro)
2. Arise pt.2
3. Arise pt.3 (Outro)

The very first track that started it all

"From The Ashes Of My Heart", a song that I recorded back in June 2005. It was around that time when I used to have super long hair and I was wearing all those kinds of bandana; on my head, around my wrists, in my pockets... well, you get the picture. That was my "hippy/straightedge" era, back in high school. Anyways, it's the original version of the song, and I'm planning to recreate the whole song "professionally".

Faceless' lost demo session tapes

For all those who loved their true hardcore sound, from the depths of North Tetagouche and the surrounding regions, here they are - Faceless. I found their demos of January 2006 that I had of them. I simply recorded them, playing live in my basement with one microphone standing in the middle of them. The sound might be crappy, but I guess it still has its golden value.

Band line-up was: Hippy (guitar/backup vocals), Chris (bass), Blanchard (lead vocals, drums)

Tracklist:
======
1. Will You Bury Me?
2. Cryptic Demon
3. Sanity On Genocide
4. Faceless
5. Troubled Mind
Bonus Track: Blooper
